| LS's Story
My reasons for having a breast augmentation were
simple. My boobswere lopsided, I wanted them even - getting them enlarged at the
same time - hey, why not!?!?. It had been a major source of anxiety
              for
me since my teens, and sometime around spring of 2003 and finally
decided it was time. I had the money, I had free time and I couldn't
              go
another year padding my small side and trying to hide it from everyone.
Evening out my breasts was not as simple as I thought
it would bethough. I was starting with a droopy sized large B and small perky
              A.
I saw 4 different plastic surgeons, and each one gave me a different
method of fixing my asymmetry. How was I supposed to know which
one was going to look best?? I'm no surgeon! BUT, I did do tons
              of
research and knew about the different methods they each told me
about - so I didn't feel completely lost.
The last consultation I had booked was with Dr. Edelstein.
By the end of that consultation, I knew he would be the one doing my surgery.
He took the time to examine and measure my breasts before deciding
what the best surgery approach would be. He also asked my opinion
and expectations and answered all of my many questions without
rushing me. Within 2 days of the consultation I received a package
from his office containing his quote and additional pamphlets on
breast augmentation. I called his office that afternoon to go ahead
 and book my surgery.
My next meeting with Dr. E. was my pre-op 3 weeks
before the surgery. I filled in all of the necessary forms and gave them my
              down
payment. I tried on sizers and he took my pictures. He made me feel
very comfortable, even though I was freezing my butt off and standing
in front of a man I didn't know taking my pictures! He spent a few
minutes reassuring me that this is his job, and he's seen many many
bodies and I have nothing to be embarrassed about. We decided on
sizes and told office assistant so she could order them for me.
              The
surgery was going to consist of a benilli lift and nipple reduction
              on my
larger side with a 325cc Mentor/Saline/Round/Smooth implant. The
smaller size would be filled with a 375cc implant.
Next (the next week) was my pre-admissions at Humber
River Hospital. And it is necessary to have blood work done if you’re
having your surgery at this hospital. The nurse sat me down and
was supposed to reassure me, and explain what was going to
happen that day and take all of my information. Now, I suppose I
              was
pampered by Dr. Edelstein and his office staff - but this nurse
              was
awful! I was more nervous and unsure leaving there then I was when
I went in! Thank goodness I didn't have to see her again.
September 19th The Big Day - I was at the hospital
by 6:30. By 7 they had called my name and I moved into a different waiting room.
By 7:30, they called me again, and that was IT. I was behind the
doors of no return. I changed into my hospital gown and booties
              and
cap and sat and waited. A nurse called me over to confirm my
information and give me a wristband. Then she proceeded to give
me a needle in my stomach. IN MY STOMACH! I almost smacked her!
What was that for???? She said it was a drug that will thin my blood.
Huh?? So, I went and sat again. At 8am, Dr. Edelstein came strolling
in and called me into another secret room. The room of the big giant
black marker. He asked me how I was feeling, and how I slept the
 night before.
Me: "I slept well, drug induced, but well"
Him: "Hey, whatever gets you through the night"
Then he makes me drop my robe (!!) and I'm standing there
completely naked (I also had lipo) and he starts drawing all over
              me.
Not the kinky kind of drawing that's fun, but big ugly black marks
              on
my poor cold boobies and thighs. Then I remembered about the
 stomach needle.
Me: "Uh, doc? What was that needle for that the nurse gave
              me in my stomach??"
Him: "That's to thin your blood to reduce the chances of blood
              clots"
Me: "What?? You just had me stop everything for two weeks that
would cause blood thinning and now I need a needle to make sure
 it's thin this morning??"
Him: "it's different" (then I stopped paying attention,
              and remembered
I was standing naked in front of some guy I don't know who's drawing
 all over me). Continued
