TW's Story continued
The next thing I knew, I was waking up in the recovery
room about an hour and a half later with the
sports bra I had bought with me. I think my first words to the nurse
was a comment on how quick
the surgery was. She laughed at me as to me it seemed like it was
only a few minutes! I didn't
really feel any pain either, just pressure. I was pretty cold so
they gave me this wonderful heated
blanket where I stayed nice and cozy for about another hour. I even
spoke to my boyfriend on the
phone! Then they got me up and moved me to this wonderful recliner
where I was given some juice
and a couple of Tylenol 3's and I just sat there talking to the
nurses.
Dr. Brown came to check on me as well at this time
and told me everything looked great. I was
pretty much wide awake right after I woke up from the surgery and
even the nurses were surprised
how well I was doing. By 2:00pm I was ready to go back to the hotel
where I spent the rest of the
day watching movies and talking with a few friends that had come
by for a visit.
The next day was when the pain started to hit me. I
had my post-op consultation with Dr. Brown
that morning at 9:15am where he did one final check and also told
me how to look after my new
additions. I had dissolvable stitches so I didn't have to worry
about having to get those removed.
15 minutes later we were starting the 4 hour drive back home. I
slept most of the way and it really
wasn't as bad as I was expecting thanks to the medication. We stopped
every hour or two just to
walk around a bit and get something to eat as per Dr. Brown's request.
The next few days of my recovery were probably the
worst. I slept on a reclinder for a good week
or two since getting up from my bed was very difficult and I was
in a lot more pain in the mornings.
It wasn't too bad though. I had plenty of juice and snacks available,
some pre-cooked meals to eat,
a bunch of movies to watch, my boyfriend was at home to help me
when he could and when he
had to work I had my cats to keep me company! The days went by very
quickly and the next thing I
knew I was back a work a week later. It isn't neccessary to massage
cohesive gels as much as
you need to do salines but I was told to gently squeeze each one
and to push them together a
few times a day to help soften them up. It was a little painful
at first but no worries, my boyfriend
was more than happy to help me out with that task.
I was also able to take the surgery tape off after
about a week which is when I also started to
massage Vitamin E oil onto my incisions. The funny thing was I was
so scared to look at my
new boobs because I didn't know what to expect. It wasn't until
I took my 1 week post photos that I
actually got a good look at them and boy, they were huge!!! I am
now 6 weeks post and couldn't
be happy. They have softened up incredibly and look and feel more
natural each and everyday. No
more having to worry about my fake boob inserts peeking through
my clothes or even worse
coming out of my bra and falling onto the floor! Now I can look
in the mirror without feeling sad, my
clothes fit better and my waist looks smaller! Through all the pain
and discomfort it was definitely
worth it and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. My only
regret is that I couldn't do it sooner!
