One of the most-requested procedures that Dr. Hamilton performs at an accredited hospital in Calgary is breast augmentation surgery.
Breast augmentation surgery is usually performed for one of several reasons: the patient may want to compensate for weight that may have been lost through pregnancy, aging or diet. The procedure may also be done for cosmetic reasons, when the patient wishes to have greater size or volume in her breasts.

Dr. Hamilton uses almost exclusively the most current, state of the art breast implants
. These are fourth and fifth generation cohesive silicone gel breast implants-Natrelle, made by Allergan. These are currently the best technology in breast implants available. The fifth generation implants are available to Canadian women, European and Scandinavian women. This generation of cohesive silicone gel implants are form stable. That is, they maintain their shape and form when in the vertical position under the breast or breast-muscle. They are textured, therefore are not only form stable but position stable as well. Unlike the smooth shell saline or smooth shell silicone gel implants which can migrate downward with time, these new generation implants maintain their position beneath the breast mound, giving the patient long term continued upper pole breast fullness. This gives the patient a beautiful, soft and long lasting medial breast fullness and cleavage.

Smooth shell saline implants have their place but the problems of rippling, buckling and unpredictable deflation have been problematic over the years. Even the smooth shell silicone implants have the potential problem of rippling and buckling. The safety of silicone gel breast implants has vastly improved over the past decade. The problems of potential leaking and migration of the silicone gel has been overcome by more cross linking of the gel creating a so called gummy bear texture which cannot migrate. Also the silicon polymer shells, biologically inert to begin with, are thicker, more durable and less permeable than previous generations.

Whether a breast augmentation alone, or in combination with a breast lift, the current generation of textured cohesive silicone gel breast implants offers Canadian women a more superior result than previous generations of implants. The result is a beautiful, soft and esthetic breast enhancement, that not only maintains its shape but is long lasting and safer as well.

Dr. Hamilton also offers breast lift surgery. A breast lift is also referred to as a mastopexy. The desired result of the breast lift procedure is that the breasts are raised and made firmer through the removal of excess skin and the tightening of the surrounding tissue of the breasts. This process reshapes and supports the new breast contour, often with the goal of creating a younger image.
