Hi there,
I have a question on the Cohesive Gel implants. I'm
very interested in this type of implant and have
decided that these are the ones I want.
(I know they are more expensive then saline and that they
are only available in Canada). My question is, what are the different
incision sites available for this
type of implant?
Thank you, Tammy
Dear Tammy,
Because cohesive gel implants are inserted when they
are full, rather than deflated, you need a
slightly larger incision to insert them. Typically this incision
is 4.5 - 5 cms. and is usually placed in the
fold under the breast. Occasionally they can be placed through
an incision around the areola. They
cannot be placed through an armpit incision. The fold incision
is usually well hidden and cannot be
seen in clothing, a bra or a bathing suit. Because it is tucked
in the fold, it is also usually hard to see
out of clothing unless the breast is being lifted up.
