I am 24 and have had 2 children. When I was 16 I had surgery on my left breast due to a cyst.
Now they are very differant in size, shape and my nipples are considerably uneven in placement
and size. can this all be fixed during implant surgery? would my provincial health plan cover any
the costs? if not will it cost me extra to have all this fixed, plus the implants? would a nipple
incision help fix that part of the problem? thanks,
MB

Dear MB
Once breast tissue is damaged or removed (surgery, post-infection scarring, radiation),
it is generally impossible to achieve symmetry with the normal breast by implant surgery only.
Provincial health plans vary in whether they will pay for part of this surgery, you will best get your
information from the surgeon you consult. Of course, advice for you as to type of procedure, incision
etc. will arise from a careful assessment by a plastic surgeon.
