I was just wondering about which incision is "less invasive".
For example: I would assume that with the crease incision that the surgeon can go up and under
the existing breast tissue to place the implant and that with the the "transax" or armpit incision
that the surgeon can go behind the breast tissue to place the implant. However, with the areola
incision, does the surgeon have to cut through the breast tissue to place the implant?
Kat

Dear Kat
It is slightly less invasive or easier to make the incision in the inframmamary crease but you do not
have to cut through the breast from an areolar incision and in my hands is almost as easy. I dissect
below the skin above the breast tissue down to the inframammary crease then dissect above the
muscle for a small distance and then through the muscle if the implant is to go below the muscle or
continue to create the pocket above the muscle.
